Gratitude in the Middle of the Mess

This week was tough, albeit better than the weeks before it. I am still dealing with the chaos of divorce and the painful realization that your spouse can turn out to be exactly the kind of person you should have avoided.

The divorce itself does not hurt as much as the lies, the betrayal, and Carrington’s active efforts to prevent me from making decisions for my child.

Our family prayer time continues, and I am finding so much comfort and reassurance during this part of my day. These days, I am struggling with being still and knowing that God is God. I feel like I always have to be doing something—fixing something, figuring something out, preparing for the next thing.

This week, I am deeply grateful for the unwavering support of my family.

My family has been solid in this season. They pray with me, sit on the phone with me through tears and laughter, send me encouraging Bible verses randomly throughout the day, send me food and drinks simply because they know I am grieving, and, most importantly, they are just there.

There is something incredibly comforting about knowing you don't have to walk through a difficult season alone.

Father, Lord, I am grateful.

I cannot imagine walking this trail alone.

1Thessalonians 5:18 Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.
